Amaryllis

The amaryllis is a traditional Christmas gift, offering a glimmer of hope in the dead of winter and is a symbol of light and life, defying the darkness and gloom of the season. It is a reflection of the birth of the long-awaited Messiah. The prophet Isaiah wrote of the coming of Jesus the Messiah about seven hundred years before Christ's birth in Bethlehem, describing him as The Light that would come into the world to overcome the darkness and set the captives free.

Isaiah 9:2 The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone.

John 1: 4,5 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

John 8:12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
